Breaking through

When you live your life with mindfulness, some of you will be able to observe life better, some won't be able to.

I have a great friend who is in 80's. I met him in December 2014. I wondered why I met him, what was the reason to encounter him.

We met up to chant at our local buddhist center most of Sundays. We have gone through difficulties together and support each other since then.
There was time when he was surgery, I would visit him at a hospital or a nursing home. We went to Dim Sum after chanting with the fellow Buddhists sometimes. We had some good time together and good experience together. He and my father are similar age if my father was alive.

I have been supportive a good friend, but there were times that I was able to be there. But he never complained to me bit.

I have met many wonderful people who have given me great impact in my life. Wow, and some of them are still around me and some are gone. But that's called "Life".

Now, I realize that why he is in my life. He came into my life to observe myself, my life from the childhood. As we all have some difficulties.

I won't go to the detail, but I definitely know that he is teaching so significant form life.

My mother also helped me to recognize what I need to learn. I don't live close to her, but I feel that the unity of me and my mother is powerful and strong.
Because she used to tell me, "You know, you came out from my womb, but I treat you as my child, but you are also my comrade in the Buddhist faith." I always felt that she would say something with unconditional love/compassion and respect. Sometimes she let me experience in hard-way, but that can be best kind lesson you experience.
She told me about my friend who is bit ill. "He must be someone who helped you in the past life time. I want you to support  and help him as he is your own father."
Took me for a while to process that it means, but as I became to accept him as who he is with love/compassion and respect. I was able to interact him in much peaceful way.

No-one know how he has lived, and he needs me at this moment. And he is helping me to change my karma.

In order to go my paths on my personal and professional lives, I need to go through something little by little to change my karma for better.

I am grateful to have my life,
I am grateful to have my family,
I am grateful to have my friends
I am grateful to have my colleagues,
I am grateful to have teachers,
I am grateful to have my experiences,
I am grateful to have my Buddhist practice.

It's powerful to chant Nam myoho renge kyo.
I am changing poison into medicine...

Love my life

Masae
